Hot air: Fox's replay man preps for big game
Here's a name to know going into Sunday's Patriots-Giants Super Bowl: Artie Kempner. Kempner doesn't throw, catch, run, tackle or kick. He won't be in the booth with Joe Buck or Troy Aikman. Still, his impact could rival anyone's at University of Phoenix Stadium. Kempner, who will be directing his second Super Bowl for Fox, is in charge of replays. Two feet in bounds? Knee down? Ball across the plane for a touchdown? It will be up to Kempner to have the replays ready for the game officials and viewers at home. "My greatest nightmare is not having the definitive angle and finding out someone else does," Kempner said the other day from Phoenix. That angle could show up later courtesy of a sideline cameraman from a local TV station or a newspaper photographer.
Circus denies its use of animals is ‘cruel’
Maz, if you asked I am sure you would be allowed to see Tom Roberts training his lovely horses, there is nothing to hide! The winterquarters is set in the countryside with big paddocks for them to use. And by the way, I bet you have never seen race horses, greyhounds, guide dogs, police dogs or horses trained either... Don't pick on circuses, when you only beleive the animal rights untrue propoganda, all produced to encourage people to donate to them! .
More flash, more screens and more oomph ahead
You don't need to be a techno-geek to realize computers have morphed into a digital Swiss Army knife over the past decade or so. Today, we turn to our computers not just for work (productivity programs including word processors and spreadsheet makers) but also for both business and leisure communication (email, instant messaging, social networking and video chats), entertainment (music, photos, videos and games), information (web surfing, online dictionaries and encyclopedias) and shopping (as more Canadians rely on cyberspace to buy goods on eBay or craigslist.org). And thanks to more selection, aggressive pricing and integrated wireless technology, laptop sales have eclipsed desktop sales; today there is little trade-off between mobility and performance. .
Local photographer’s first exhibit exceeds CAC’s sales average
The curator used just one word to describe the mood. Shocked, said Marilyn Ritchie, CAC curator and visual arts director. People were shocked. Nobody expected his work to be so beautiful. Six of Brandons photos were sold. Its not usual for people to buy that many photos at an exhibit, Ms. Ritchie said. Two or three, maybe, but not five and six. Thats a lot. People dont buy photographs as frequently as they purchase paintings and sculptures, the longtime curator said. For some reason, people dont see photographs as art, but (Brandons) photos - you look at them, and you know theyre art, Ms. Ritchie said. Ive never seen a photo exhibit be received so well. Catchlight Borrowing a term from photography, the exhibit was called Catchlight.
Britney Back With Adnan, Hoping to See Her Boys As Well
A day away from Britney and so much to recap. Today the pop star is expected to show up for a custody hearing to ask for visitation in a therapeutic setting as a means to also help Britney with her psychological problems. As far as the deposition is concerned, Kevin's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan said that questioning Britney for her deposition has been gut-wrenching and unpleasurable and that he still has many many more questions to ask Britney before he's finished. We have questions as well. Like why she was acting like Adnan was out of the picture but then spotted last night at Taverna Tony's restaurant in Malibu with him. Especially after he just took it upon himself to talk to ET about his experience hanging out with the pop star in a series of interviews.
